COLUMBIA -- Officials at the American Red Cross say the O negative blood supply is at a critically low level and they need your help.

Officials say type O negative is always in high demand because it can be given to patients with any blood type.

"Right now, we are in critical need of type O blood," Jamie Muldrow of the Red Cross explains.  "We have reached a critical low in our national inventory, so if you are O negative we encourage you to please come by and donate."

If you're interested in donating, you can give the gift of life by scheduling an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
