COLUMBIA -- Local golfers hit the greens for a good cause Wednesday.

The Veterans Victory Golf Tournament teed off at the Linkrick Golf Course.

The Richland County Recreation Commission held the tournament to raise money for adaptive golf carts.

The carts give disabled golfers the ability to tee off and put from the vehicle.

Larry Cook says without the cart, he wouldn't be on the greens today.

"I hadn't played golf for 15 years until I got introduced to this concept about three years ago and it's put me back in the game...back out with my friends and family and doing what I enjoy," Cook says.

He adds that the carts are about $5,000 but it's worth every penny.
