RICHLAND COUNTY -- Several homes were evacuated late Tuesday afternoon because of a bomb scare in the Summit community northeast of Columbia.
A homeowner at 414 Beech Glen Drive was planting grass in his yard when he found the device.
Richland County Bomb Squad was called in and found one other similar World War II bomb in the area. One of those was still live.
Early this evening officials called off the evacuation and let residents back into their homes.
They have transported the live explosive to an open area where they plan to detonate it.
Monique Mack with the Richland County Sheriff's Department says residents were in no danger.
The area where the bombs were found was formerly used as a bomb range for Fort Jackson.
