EASTOVER -- There were more tearful goodbyes in the Midlands Monday as another round of National Guard members deployed to Asia.

Hundreds of men and women from McEntire Joint National Guard Base said their goodbyes Monday morning.

The 169th Fighter Wing Unit is sending F-16 fighter jets, pilots and support crews on the mission that supports the war in Iraq.

For some, it isn't the first time they will be leaving the ones they love behind.

But that doesn't make the process any easier.

"Especially with the little kids, it gets really, really hard, but we'll be back before we know it," says Juan Perez, who's going on his fourth tour in Iraq.

The soldiers leaving from McEntire are scheduled to return home sometime in September.
