The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority held a public meeting Saturday, May 1 to discuss upcoming changes being made to specific bus routes that will directly affect riders and the community.  The changes come as a result of the Comprehensive Operational Analysis which is intended to transform the area's public transit system into an integral part of our community.

CMRTA representative Brittany McMillan says the changes are a step in the right direction.  "Overall we're not geographically taking away from our service area at all.  Some of the routes are reducing how often that they'll run, but overall, I think it's a really positive improvement," she stated. According to McMillian the proposed changes will take effect June 12 pending approval.

Here is a complete list of the adjusted routes:

Routes 3 and 8 adjusted to provide connection between USC campus area and Garners Ferry Corridor.

Route 34 provides one-seat ride between DTC and Harbison Area and Sunday service.

Route 36 Crosstown add service to Garners Ferry and Bower Parkway.

Route 15 provides 30-minute all-day service along Forest Dr. and new service on Faraway.

Routes 20/21 service on Devine/Garners Ferry service restructured, with all-day service to Garners Ferry/Patterson Wal-Mart and Leesburg Rd.

Weekday service frequency reductions to Routes 4a and 6a.

Midday trips eliminated on Routes 17 and 35

Routes 6a Sunday service eliminated (area still served with Route 34)

Saturday route frequencies all increased to operate at 60-minutes

Sunday route frequencies all increased to operate at 60-minutes (previiously was 120 minutes)
