COLUMBIA -- Foot on the gas, hands on the cell phone...it's a dangerous and potentially deadly, combination.

Last month, House members gave their final approval on a bill that would fine people $25 for sending or reading text messages behind the wheel.

But Wednesday morning at the statehouse, a judiciary subcommittee heard testimony from several people who say the bill still needs some tweaking.

Some say the bill is unenforceable and doesn't address a lot of key issues like allowing bus drivers to use cell phones in an emergency without pulling over.

Right now, a similar texting and driving bill is on the senate floor.

Senators say they are in favor of that bill, because they believe it addresses many of the concerns mentioned Wednesday.
