CHARLESTON (AP) -- A South Carolina city has told the city's horse-drawn carriage tours to park their buggies while the Blue Angels fly over Charleston Harbor.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that the city's carriage operators are upset about the orders to stop the tours when the Navy's flight team flies this weekend and practices Thursday and Friday.

Charleston's traffic and transportation director says the military has told the city that the jet noise can frighten horses and cause them to bolt.

Tom Doyle Sr. of Palmetto Carriage and other operators hope to convince the city to drop the restrictions. Doyle says April is the busiest month of the year for tours.

He says carriage owners were not consulted and he's confident the jets would not spook his mules or the horses used by rival companies.
