COLUMBIA -- This week is National Public Safety Week and around the country, many are taking time out of their day to honor the men and women who dispatch, repsond and provide help during an emergency.

The Columbia-Richland Communications Center answers 3,500 calls a day.  In just a matter of minutes, they can help you in a time of need.

"We are the lifeline to the community, so we find joy in helping those in need," says Kenneth Brown of Columbia Richland 911.

The Columbia-Richland Communications Center has events planned to thank their dispatchers for their service throughout the week.
