Richland County, Lexington County, the City of Columbia, USC, SC DHEC and Keep the Midlands Beutiful teamed up to host the fourth annual Central Midlands Lawn Mower Exchange.  Hundreds of residents came out to exchange their gasoline-powered mower for a deep discount on an environmentally freindly, cordless electric mower from Neuton.  The mowers are battery powered with no emmissions.

The first 115 residents took advantage of the exhange and chose from a 14" Neuton Electric Mower or a 19" Neuton Electric Mower.  Mary Pat Baldauf with the City of Columbia says purchasing this mower helps the air quality of the Midlands.  She stated, "You can stand behind them, not smell the smoke or the exhaust.  [You] turn it on with a push of a button and it's a lot better for the air quality here in the Midlands."
