COLUMBIA (WACH) – Boy Scout Troop 330 from Westminster Presbyterian Church worked to clean Friday morning in Columbia’s Randolph Cemetery.

In December, troop member Xavier Goodwin contacted the Historic Columbia Foundation and told them he wanted to help the organization with their efforts to better preserve the site.

“I think were doing an influential part in sustaining South Carolina and its black history,” said Xavier Goodwin.

Historic preservationist Keilah Spann said several African American Reconstructionists are buried in Randolph Cemetery.

“I’m happy to see young students taking an interest in local history,” said Spann.
