SULLIVANS ISLAND (AP) -- Former first lady Jenny Sanford wants to expand the porch of her beachfront home on the South Carolina coast.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Sanford's request goes before the island's Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday.
Sanford wants to build a covered deck connecting an existing screen porch and another wing of the house on Sullivans Island where she lives with her four sons. Her divorce from Gov. Mark Sanford became final last month.
The newspaper reports that under an ordinance, island houses can lose their rental licenses if enlarged.
Sanford still wants to be able to rent the house for about two weeks in the summer and says the larger porch would not add to the heated square footage.
