FLORENCE (AP) -- A 20-year-old South Carolina man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a teen in what a prosecutor said was part of his fantasy of being a gangster.

Multiple media outlets reported Donovan Roman pleaded guilty Wednesday to murder in the killing of 17-year-old Jeremiah Jenkins.

Prosecutors say Roman and two friends lured Jenkins to an abandoned building in Florence in August 2008 because they wanted the victim to join their "crime organization."

Authorities say Roman had his friends put on gloves, then gave one of them a sign to begin stabbing Jenkins.

An autopsy showed Jenkins was also beaten in the head before his body was stuffed in a wall of the building.

Murder charges against 18-year-old A.J. Woye and 19-year-old Zachary Morgan are still pending.
