FORT MILL (AP) -- Police have arrested a South Carolina man in connection with the theft of half a million dollars worth of smokeless tobacco from a warehouse and transportation company more than two years ago.

York County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Mike Baker said 49-year-old Anthony Lawrence Wade of Edgemoor was released on $30,000 bail on Monday. He was arrested Sunday by officers in neighboring Chester County on a charge of grand larceny.

A telephone listing for Wade could not be found.

Carolina Consolidators in Fort Mill reported 1,000 cases of tobacco were missing after the company took an inventory in January 2008. There was no sign of break-in.

Baker said Wade had worked for the company. A police report shows that an arrest warrant was issued for Wade in May 2008.
