A non-profit group has placed free spay/neuter coupons in City of Columbia March water bills.
COLUMBIA - The Animal Mission has launched it's latest spay/neuter campaign with the goal of reducing the number of animals entering and being euthanized in local shelters.
The non-profit support group for The Columbia Animal Shelter has placed more than 90,000 free spay/neuter coupons in city of Columbia March water bills.
"We thought that would be a great way to reach out to a large group of people," said Marli Drum with the Animal Mission.
The Animal Mission has pledged $100,000 to the effort, made possible by money raised at the organizations annual fundraiser.
Officials with the organization said if you did not get a coupon in your water bill, you can pick one up at the Columbia Animal Shelter at 127 Humane Lane.
You must also bring an ID that shows you are a Richland County resident.
The coupons can be redeemed at participating Richland County veterinarian offices and at the HSPCA, and are good from March 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010.
Additional coupons are available to Richland County residents at the City of Columbia Animal Shelter.
