After narrowing down a large field of candidates, they've announced their pick.
RICHLAND COUNTY --
The Richland County District Two School Board announced their pick for a new superintendent Monday night.
With a 7-0 vote, Dr. Katie Brochu will fill the shoes of Steve Hefner, the retiring superintendent of the district.
Brochu comes to Richland County from Dalton, Georgia where she served as the superintendent of the Whitfield County School District since 2005.
She started out in education teaching reading, math and physical education in 1983.
Brochu will be paid a yearly salary of $215,000 plus benefits.
She will take over the reins starting June 30.
The board narrowed qualified candidates down from a pool of 99 applicants.
Last week, they announced three finalists for the position and hosted meet and greet sessions with each of them.
