COLUMBIA -- Teachers and students are fighting cancer one snip at a time.

Students at the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology offered $5 haircuts to help children and their families suffering from cancer.

The event ran on Sunday and Monday.

The students say they're happy they can help the good cause.

"Cancer is all around us," says student Kimberly DeWalt.  "People in my family have cancer and you're not always able to help everyone.  But whatever you can do from your heart, you should do it."

This was the sixth year for the Cuts For Cancer event.
