Auction to name giraffe goes live

The Riverbanks Zoo is putting the naming rights in the highest bidder's hands.

COLUMBIA -- The chance to name a new addition to the herd at the Riverbanks Zoo is here.

Monday morning, an online auction went live on the zoo's website.

Up for auction is the naming rights of a newborn giraffe calf.

The giraffe came into the world on February 13, during a snowstorm. 

The winner's choice, along the story behind it, will be published in an upcoming issue of the zoo's magazine.

Serious bidders can visit the Riverbanks Zoo's website to get involved.
