SPARTANBURG (AP) -- SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina soldier who died more than 40 years ago in a jungle in Vietnam will finally be buried next month at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported Saturday that the remains of U.S. Army Spc. Thomas Rice Jr. will be buried April 9 after a memorial service for him and three others who were aboard a helicopter that went missing in 1965.

The remains of the 23-year-old serviceman were recovered and identified last year. About 500 people attended a memorial service held at a Spartanburg funeral home in September. It was Rice's second funeral. The first was held in 1967.

Rice's sister Faye Smith of Spartanburg says next month's burial will be the family's final goodbye.
