COLUMBIA (AP) -- Officials in South Carolina want to remind residents that agribusiness is a $34 billion industry accounting for about 200,000 jobs.
The reminder comes on National Agriculture Day on Saturday. Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers says that with the spin off, the agriculture business accounts for about one-fourth of the South Carolina economy.
The day closes a week of observances noting the importance of agriculture to the nation.
