Advocates say charter schools give parents a chance to choose the best school for their child and play an active role in their education.
COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Public Charter School District is getting their moment at the statehouse to not only promote the charter school system, but to thank lawmakers for their continued support.
Advocates say charter schools give parents a chance to choose the best school for their child and play an active role in their education.
"Today is about showing appreciation to the legislature for making charter schools an option for parents in South Carolina," says Dr. Barbara Stoops, President of the Palmetto Charter Network.
Stoops says charter schools are still public schools, but work independently.
Supporters say charter schools are more innovative and provide a more hands on approach for parents.
