COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Players from two basketball teams were called to the South Carolina High School League office after both sides were involved in a brawl following a playoff game.
The players from Southside and Abbeville arrived on Friday afternoon for a lecture on sportsmanship from former South Carolina State football coach Willie Jeffries.
The fight broke out as players shook hands Wednesday night following Southside's 61-55 victory over Abbeville in the Class 2A playoffs. Video of the incident shows that people from the stands also participated in the fight.
Abbeville principal Steve Glenn said eight of his players have been suspended from school for five days. There was no information on discipline for Southside, which faces Keenan on Saturday for a spot in the state championship.
