ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina man once accused of killing two people has sued a prosecutor, saying he was held in jail too long before the charges were dismissed.

Baru Trump says in a federal complaint filed this week that Solicitor David Pascoe kept him in jail even after receiving reports that were relevant to his case.

Trump spent more than a year in jail awaiting trial on charges of murder and armed robbery. He was arrested after officers found a gun in his car used to shoot Cecil Bennett and Shirley Wiles in Bennett's Orangeburg barbershop in 2005.

Trump was released in 2007. He said he bought the gun from Roger Johnson, who was convicted in the deaths and is serving a life sentence.

Pascoe did not immediately return a message seeking comment Thursday.
