NORTH CHARLESTON (AP) -- Some U.S. citizens who had been living in Haiti and others who had gone to help after last month's earthquake have begun arriving in South Carolina.
An Air Force C-17 landed at Charleston International Airport Thursday with 54 evacuees. Derrec Becker of the South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Division says another flight is expected about 1 a.m. Friday.
Emergency officials say none of those on the first flight asked for medical attention, although one woman wanted to see a counselor and another seemed pleased to have a meal.
Officials don't know how many more flights may come to South Carolina, which joins New Jersey and Florida as sites where American evacuees from Haiti are being brought.
