COLUMBIA (AP) -- A new report says South Carolina's lottery didn't follow proper procedures in a contract to put security features on lottery tickets.
The report released by the Legislative Audit Council on Tuesday also says the lottery isn't providing enough information about who is playing the games or their chances of winning.
The audit says the lottery commission didn't use the proper methods when it spent nearly $400,000 for a security barcode system on scratch-off tickets and when it paid $408,000 for the rights to sell "The Price is Right" scratch-off tickets.
Lottery audits are required every three years. This is the second for the games that started in 2002.
The report also says the lottery isn't doing enough to tell players about their chances of winning. The agency says it is doing more on that front.
