(AP) -- CHARLESTON, S.C. Wine, antiques, jewelry and travel packages are up for bid during the annual Spoleto Festival USA auction in South Carolina.
The auction, scheduled for Friday in Charleston, annually raises tens of thousands of dollars for the internationally known arts festival.
This year's Spoleto opens May 28 and runs through June 13.
A highlight of this year's Spoleto is the reopening of the Dock Street theater, on same site where a theater was opened in 1736. To celebrate, the festival is reviving "Flora," the first opera performed in the American colonies.
This season's Spoleto also includes the opera "Proserpina" as well as a marionette opera composed by Joseph Haydn.
