COLUMBIA (WACH) – On Friday the Five Points Association announced that it is accepting press kits from local bands interested in competing in the 3rd annual Battle for St. Pat’s.

Bands will be competing to play on stage in Five Points in front of 40,000 people during the St. Patrick’s Day Festival.

Officials say bands that are interested in being selected to compete need to send press kits including their contact information, a bio, CD of their music and picture to The Five Points Association no later than February 12, 2010 to be considered.

Upon receipt of all the band submissions, a selected group of local musical experts will host a listening party to determine the 6 bands that will compete for the prize. The 6 bands will be announced on February 19, 2010.

Battle for St. Pat’s will be held on Friday March 12, 2010 from 6 – 10pm on Santee Avenue.

Bands should submit their press kits to:
