CLOVER (AP) -- Two brothers have died after their pickup truck crashed as it was being chased by a South Carolina police officer.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported the chase started early Saturday on state Highway 55 near Clover when an officer spotted a speeding truck.

York County Deputy Coroner David Chambers says the victims were 36-year-old Robert Dewayne Davies of Clover and 38-year-old Ernest Shawn Davies of York.

Clover Police Chief Randy Grice says the truck didn't stop when the officer turned on blue lights and a siren.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Scott Edgeworth says after several minutes, Robert Davies ran off the road and overcorrected and hit a stump on the other side.

Grice says the Clover officer was about to call off the chase when he saw the wreck. The officer's name was not released.
