A mold and mildew mess is what one Columbia woman says she's living with, and that's only the beginning. She also says she's living with a pest problem.
Wilhelmina Henry-General started renting a house on Columbia's June Drive, two months ago. She says she never knew she would also be sharing it with some uninvited guests.
"If the bugs are crawling around in the walls up there when we turn our lights off at night to sleep, they are probably crawling through cracks up in here," said Henry-General.
A nightmare that Henry-General says she can no longer face; the Columbia woman also found something else.
"My reaction when I went up there in that attic was 'My God,' he had to know this was going on because there were traps up there, big traps."
Rodents are a concern for the family. Henry-General says the biggest problem is what you can't see at first glance. She says mold and mildew is making big problems, and has led to several hospital visits for the family.
"She had a cyst that got up under her arm," said Henry-General. "She's not the only one, all of us have had them since we've been here."
The Columbia woman says she has called her landlord for help, but hasn't gotten results.
"I want my family to be comfortable and yet they're getting sick," said Henry-General.
It's not clear if the mold and mildew is making the family sick. But according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, mold can greatly affect your health and cause skin irritation.
WACH Fox News contacted Vonz Properties--who owns the house--a company representative says if Henry-General puts all of her concerns in writing, the company will address them.
We'll bring you any updates when they're available.
