CAYCE -- South Carolina Electric & Gas customers can look forward to some relief in their bills after the utility announced Monday it is cutting natural gas rates by 3.59 percent.
SCE&G says the average customer can expect a decrease of $5.21 in their January bill due to the rate cut.
However, compared to a year ago the average January bill is still up by $1.39, or 1 percent.
According to SCE&G, the utility makes monthly adjustments to natural gas rates based on a rolling 12-month forecast of natural gas prices in an effort to level out price swings for customers.
These adjustments are subject to review by state officials.
