COLUMBIA-- Midlands residents now have a place to drop off old and unwanted computers free of charge.

Goodwill Industries has joined the Dell Reconnect partnership to offer free computer recycling.

This allows consumers to drop off unwanted computers and accessories of any brand at participating stores.

The equipment will be resold or refurbished.

Goodwill officials say this program is a win-win, because it helps reduce landfill waste and employs local workers.

The Dell Reconnect program was created five years ago and to date has diverted more than 48 thousand tons of e-waste from landfills and has created more than 250 jobs.
