CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Holiday travel will be a little easier on two interstate highways in South Carolina for the holiday season.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday that construction to widen I-26 to eight lanes in North Charleston has shut down until next year.
Emergency repairs have finished on a bridge on I-95 over Lake Marion in Clarendon County. The repairs were needed after inspectors found superficial cracks in part of the bridge deck.
A spokesman for the company working on the $66 million project to widen I-26 in North Charleston says work will resume Jan. 4. Earl Capps with U.S. Group says the project is ahead of schedule. It is supposed to be finished by April 2011.
