(AP) -- Authorities say a South Carolina teacher's assistant was killed and her daughter was injured when they were hit by a sport utility vehicle in front of a school.
Multiple media outlets reported Saturday that 45-year-old Gretchen Randall of Piedmont and her 15-year-old daughter were in a crosswalk in front of Wren High School when they were struck at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Randall was pronounced dead at a hospital. Her daughter suffered bruises but was expected to recover.
Authorities said Randall and her daughter had been attending a football game and were walking to their car.
Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin said 42-year-old James C. Ammons III of Easley was driving east on Wren School Road when he hit the women. Gaskin says the accident is under investigation.
