ORANGEBURG, SC (AP) -- A South Carolina man has been sentenced in the shooting death of a teenager killed while hunting in the woods.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported Wednesday that 53-year-old Dennis Hall of Rowesville pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison. Sixteen-year-old Joshua Gainey died Oct. 2, 2008 from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities say the teen was hunting with friends when he was killed. Authorities say Hall was also hunting and heard something in the bushes, fired and ran home.
Prosecutors said that Hall never came forward after the shooting. Investigators used a gunshot shell and a bloodhound to link him to the shooting.
