Ft. Jackson:Soldier died from swine flu complications

FORT JACKSON, S.C.  - Army officials say a soldier from Florida suffered died rom complications of the swine flu earlier this month.  The soldier was in his 5th week of basic training when he became ill.

On Wednesday Fort Jackson officials said 23-year-old Spc. Christopher Hogg of Deltona, Fla., had the swine flu virus and died of pneumonia.  Hogg died September 10, a week after he was taken to the hospital with fever and respiratory problems.

Base officials are taking precautions to stop the spread of the flu.  They are installing hand sanitizer dispensers, checking new recruits for flu-like symptoms and isolating the sick.
