Officers with the Richland County Fugitive Task Force have arrested a man they say fired shots at deputies nearly a week ago.
According to Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Chris Cowan, deputies acted Crimestoppers tip that 21 year-old Michael Terrell Sims was hiding in a house off Beatty Road Thursday afternoon.
When they responded, Sims fled on foot but, with assistance from SLED, U.S. Marshals, and the Richland County K-9 Unit, he was quickly apprehended.
Sims will be charged with gun, drugs, and assault charges stemming from an incident that occurred Friday when he and 19 year-old Damian Doughty reportedly shot at deputies from black Grand Prix during a police pursuit.
Doughty was shot in the leg during that incident though Cowan says deputies did not return fire. None of the deputies were injured.
Sims is currently being currently being transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
