SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A statewide hunt for an escaped Spartanburg inmate is underway.

A man originally serving a one-year probation sentence for domestic violence will not face escape charges once he's caught.

23-year-old Brian Christopher Young bolted out of the Spartanburg County Courthouse.

Investigators say he was able to break away from a detention officer and eventually run away.

Police say Young was in court to take a drug test - which he failed.

This meant Young faced 30 days in jail, but by law he's now looking at 15 years behind bars for escaping.

Brian Young was last seen wearing a black shirt, baggy jeans, and a set of handcuffs attached to one arm.

He's 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.

If you know about Young's whereabouts, call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
