Lexington County car break-ins dramatically up

Lexington County investigators say they have seen a dramatic increase in car break-ins.

So far in 2009, officers say there have been more than 100 reports.

Investigators are recommending to keep you and your belongings safe by doing the following:

  • Make sure your car doors are locked.
  • Never leave valuables out in the open.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Keep records of all serial numbers on valuable items in your car.
  • Keep your garage doors closed and locked.
  • Get to know your neighbors and their vehicles.
