Fifth Circuit Solicitor Barney Giese's DUI charges have been dropped in exchange for a plea to lesser charges.

Giese pleaded guilty to two traffic offenses that carry no jail time.

He will also pay a fine for improperly turning and driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Giese's attorney says the solicitor had been drinking before he was stopped in Charleston late last month but says it wasn't enough for a DUI charge.

He also declined to say exactly how many drinks Giese had.
