Richland County officials are discussing ways to use federal stimulus money on homelessness and rapid re-housing projects. An ad hoc committee will decide whether to recommend using $500,000 on such programs.
If approved, more than $250,000 would go to The Cooperative Ministry. The organization helps prevent homelessness by helping people out with rent, water bills, transportation, and clothing.
Abraham Meminger is one those people. After going through the application process, the ministry helped him pay the rent this month.
The group also offers financial education classes Mondays through Thursdays.
