A deadly Sumter accident leaves one person dead

SUMTER COUNTY, SC -- A person is dead after an accident in Sumter County.

Investigators say Saturday night at 9:10 PM, Robert Dukes was driving a 1988 Ford Pick-up truck eastbound down SC-446.

A pedestrian, wearing dark shirt and pants, was walking westbound on the shoulder of the highway.

Officials say the pedestrian then walked in the path of the truck. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
