One Columbia teenager is in critical condition after an argument between two brothers turned violent overnight.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, two brothers got into an argument Monday night. The argument turned into a physical altercation and ended with the 14 year-old hitting his 19 year-old brother in the head with a baseball bat.

The older brother was transported to Palmetto Health Richland and was last listed in critical condition.

Deputies say that currently it is unclear whether or not the younger brother acted in self-defense and if any charged would be filed.
