COLUMBIA, SC -- Some Girl Scouts made a transition into a new level Saturday.

The first council-wide bridging ceremony took place Saturday morning at the Gervais Street Bridge in Columbia.  It is considered a celebration in the life of a Girl Scout moving up into the next stage in her time as she symbolically walks across the bridge.

Hundreds of people were expected to show up to today's festivities.
