Electrical fire at Pelion School

According to Lexington County Fire Services, deputies responded to reports of a fire at Forts Pond Elementary School in Pelion shortly before 10:00 AM Thursday.

Within fifteen minutes of responding, fire crews had the blaze under control.

Reports say the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in the electrical service room.

Approximately 30 to 40 school staff members and students were evacuated during the incident.

Damage estimates were not immediately available. No one was injured during the fire.
