Strong thunderstorms are producing heavy rain, small hail, dangerous lightning and strong winds across the midlands.  Storms impacted Aiken, Lexington, Calhoun, Richland, Sumter, Kershaw, Newberry and Orangeburg counties.  Most storms are moving east at 15 miles per hour.  Remember, strong storms, while not severe, can be dangerous.

As of 7:55 pm, the strongest storms are affecting lower Richland, Kershaw, and Calhoun counties.

"The midlands will be battling storms through mid to late evening," says WACH Fox News Weather Anchor Justin Kier.  "The instability in the atmosphere combined with an upper level disturbance are sparking off these storms."

Kier reminds residents never to cross flooded roadways.  "It goes back to the old saying, 'Don't drown.  Turn around," says Kier.  "Remember, thunderstorms are violent products of nature, while some may not be 'severe,' they can still be dangerous.
