Police have identified and arrested a man they say shoplifted several items from Burkes Outlet Store while in a wheelchair last month.
According to police, the thief escaped from store security prior to the arrival of Cayce officers by wheeling himself out of the front door and jumping into a getaway vehicle. In his haste to get away, the suspect left his wheelchair behind, which authorities have taken as evidence.
The department is not releasing the suspect’s due to the ongoing investigation but would like to express great appreciation to those that came forward with the information and the media for the exposure.
