TIMMONSVILLE, SC (AP) -- Authorities say an investigation into a hit-and-run turned into a homicide investigation after police determined a man whose body was found in a Timmonsville street was beaten to death.
Investigators told WMBF-TV that 48-year-old Rush Bass' body was found in an intersection Thursday night after he left a bar.
Authorities initially thought it was a hit-and-run, but evidence showed Bass had been beaten with a blunt object.
Investigators have charged 17-year-old Randy Baker and 18-year-old Jeremy Durant with murder. They haven't given a motive for the killing.
The teens remain in the Florence County jail. Records do not indicate if they have attorneys
