COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A private, nonprofit facility for abused, abandoned and neglected youth in South Carolina is holding its annual fundraiser.

Carolina Children's Home's 22nd annual barbecue cook-off fundraiser is this weekend at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.

Children's Home spokeswoman Jennifer Davidson says 46 cooking teams from South Carolina and Tennessee have signed up for the cook-off. Contestants range from businesses to groups of friends.

The teams compete Saturday and will serve from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adults pay $10.

They kick off the weekend Friday night serving Southern-style cooking of anything but pork.

Davidson said last year's event raised $68,500 for the home, which went into the general budget to provide services and pay salaries. The private nonprofit provides residential treatment for youth ages 6 to 21.
