COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -- Federal officials say they will hold a fundraiser to help send South Carolina's World War II veterans to a monument in the nation's capital.

The William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia will hold its Honor Flight Charity Bike Ride on Saturday. Officials hope the event will raise enough money to send the veterans to visit the World War II monument in Washington, D.C.

The agency is also highlighting its Veterans Safe Driving Campaign during the event. That initiative aims to increase awareness and prevention of vehicle accidents among veterans.
