(AP) -- SENECA, S.C. (AP) -- A company that makes circuit breakers and other control devices says it will cut 90 jobs at a South Carolina plant and move some of its operations to Mexico.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reported Friday that Schneider Electric will close a leased plant in Seneca and move assembly operations to two factories in Monterrey, Mexico. Schneider, also known as Square D, has been operating in Seneca since 1986.
A company spokesman told the newspaper that the laid off workers will receive severance pay, benefits and placement services.
The company has cited the economy for the staffing cuts.
