FLORENCE, SC (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a former Florence County deputy and his wife have been indicted on fraud charges related to the deaths of his mother and stepfather.
The Morning News of Florence reports the 20-count indictment accuses 35-year-old Timothy Poole of shooting the couple at their Williamsburg County home in August 2006, then conspiring with his wife to make sure he received his mother's inheritance.
Poole was charged by the state with murder shortly after the killings, but a judge dropped those charges because of a lack of evidence.
Federal prosecutors say any charges directly related to the killings will have to be filed again by the state.
It wasn't immediately clear if Poole or his wife had an attorney.
